We booked a buggy tour through Viator with this company. The price was very reasonable, which was a plus. However, the experience had several drawbacks that impacted our enjoyment. Negatives: The pickup was scheduled for 10:20 AM, but the van didn’t arrive until 11:20 AM, leaving us waiting in the hotel lobby (Finest Punta Cana). Despite being picked up first, we drove past our hotel to collect another group, which felt inefficient. The driver didn’t speak English, making communication difficult. The van was packed with every seat filled, which was uncomfortable. After arriving at the tour location (20mins), we waited another 45 minutes for more groups to arrive before starting. The first stop was a clear sales pitch for souvenirs, coffee, and cacao, lasting 15 minutes and feeling unnecessary. The second stop, the cave, was beautiful with cold, refreshing water, but it was overcrowded with multiple tour groups and locals persistently pushing us to visit their shops. The third stop at Macao Beach was the highlight. The turquoise water and clean sand were stunning, with free chairs provided and huts selling beverages. It was relaxing, and we wished we’d spent more time there. The Buggy Ride: The buggy ride itself was just okay. The vehicles were functional, but be warned—you’ll get extremely dirty driving through mud and manure. Bring a bandana (or buy one there) and wear clothes you don’t care about, as they’ll likely be ruined. You are taken in very large groups 10-20 buggy’s at a time. Which required us to go slower. Finding a tour operator that does private tours for your group might be the way to go. Overall: The tour, advertised as 4 hours, included a lot of waiting and an unnecessary sales stop. While Macao Beach was a standout, the buggy ride was average, and the disorganization detracted from the experience. If you’re bored and don’t mind getting filthy, it’s an option, but manage your expectations.
Sharing here as Viator prevented me from posting there. Pre: Found this excursion through Tripadvisor. Had good reviews and a good mix of things we wanted to do (ATV, Beach, Traditional Store, Cave). We were advised over Whatsapp to be outside our hotel by 1 pm for pickup by the tour driver (included in price). No driver showed up. Attempted numerous times to contact company. After repeated calls and messages, driver shows up at 2 pm. We were scheduled to start our tour at 2:30. The vehicle was an absolute mess and broke down. Another driver had to come to get us. We got to the tour site around 3, then waited an hour, listening to vulgar rap music being blasted in our ears. The faciliy was 3rd world at best. Bathroom was the worst I've seen in my life, and I've been in some rough parts of the world. Tour: We rented ATVs (2 per ATV). The rest of the tour (about 20 other vehicles) followed. It was very slow, as numerous other tour companies were using the same route. We visited Macao beach for about 15 minutes, then got back on the ATVs and visited a traditional Dominican "store" where they let you sample some coffee, chocolate and Mamajuana. None of it was actually locally grown or made. Then onto a cave filled with water. By this time it was dark so not much to see. The route was full of garbage and broken down buggies. Kind of felt like a scene out of Apocalype Now. Made it back to the base around 7 pm. THey tried to force me to leave a review before leaving. I laughed and said no. Thoughts: Terribly run, poorly organized, zero communication, tour itself was mediocre at best. Equipment was broken. THe helmets they have us had no straps so they literally just sat on our heads. Tour guide was nice enough which is the only saving grace. I would steer clear of this tour at all costs.
The tour was canceled just five minutes before the scheduled start time with no explanation or apology. I would not recommend booking any tours with this provider. We were told that our pickup time was 7:05 a.m. at the hotel lobby, and we even double-checked with them the night before. While waiting at the lobby at 7:00, I sent messages through Viator and WhatsApp to let them know we were ready. After waiting for ten minutes with no response, I tried calling several times but received no answer. After waiting for thirty minutes, I finally got a message from the provider saying the tour was canceled—again, with no explanation or apology. Because of this last-minute cancellation, our entire day was ruined and it was too late to book another tour.
This ATV tour was the perfect mix of adventure, culture, and pure joy! We explored the mystical Taino Cave, where history and nature collided in the most awe-inspiring way. Then we stopped at a vibrant Cultural House, where we tasted the locally recommended Mamajuana—a traditional Dominican drink that’s both bold and unforgettable. And to top it off? Macao Beach. Absolutely stunning—crystal-clear waves, golden sand, and the kind of energy that just makes you want to stay forever. Huge shoutout to the entire staff. Their professionalism, hospitality, and passion for creating an unforgettable experience truly stood out. From guiding us safely through wild terrain to sharing cultural insights with real pride—they made us feel like part of something special. ✅ Perfect for couples, solo travelers, or families ✅ Includes cultural stops & epic beach views ✅ Mamajuana tasting adds a local twist Already dreaming about next year’s ride—and I’ll definitely be bringing friends. Highly recommend booking this tour if you want an authentic and exhilarating slice of the Dominican Republic! 🇩🇴🔥
Booking was scheduled for 10 and it is 11:30 and no one is here.
