My wife and I have been to Mexican resorts more than 25 times in the past 20 years. This place beat them all on value. The Mexican resorts were 2 or 3 times as expensive. They are much too loud compared the the peaceful feelings from Tan resorts. Food was fabulous, especially the Italian fare. I grew up with Italian food and have been to Italy twice. Tan's food was good and plenty. We had lovely days on the beach and at the pool. Snack bar at both so no need to go hungry or thirsty. We are taking our kids and grandkids back around Thanksgiving. Try the place out, I think you will be delighted as well.
***IT IS CALLED TAN MARINA CAP CANA NOW******** At the last minute, I booked a solo trip to Punta Cana for a much needed 4 days rest from the cold. My experience was very good!!. The resort is very secured and gated for a single woman traveling by herself. The downside to it is that you have to take THEIR taxis to get out of the resort because ubers cannot get in and of course you're a tourist, they charge twice and sometimes triple of what that ride could have cost you with uber. And the process to let somebody in or even a uber is a bit long so you would just give up and pay the price !!... My room was AMAZING and big. I was welcomed with a bottle of red wine and a plate of fruits in the room. It was clean and there was many ventilation options. The staff was nice and helpful. The drinks were okay but I've had better drinks in other resort. The buffet food was good but the restaurants were a bit dissapointing... It was redondant and very similar to what they give in the buffet and I was expecting more because when you go to restaurants "a la carte" its to have another experience. Plus, if you dont like to walk prepare to wait for the bellboys to bring you to each places because everything is a bit of a distance from the main lobby. Also, they have a shuttle that brings you back and forth to the beach, every hour. One thing I didn't understand though, is I asked for a late check out because I was flying super late, they refused but than accepted me to take a shower in another room before I left. I found it odd for me to dirty another bathroom when I could have just kept on dirtying the bathroom I already had. I guess they did that because of logistics and appreciate the last gesture accomodations but I wasted a lot of time with the back and forth discussion and missed a visitor that came to see me. Other than that, my stay was pleasant , I had a nice view from my balcony, its a quiet/calm resort and I recommend to anybody that just want a relax, zen vibe to their vacation...
Highly recommend this place. The suite was huge and cleaned and we had a pool in the backyard. The property was so beautiful doesn't matter where you at taking your pictures. The big pool was so big and pretty. Drinks and foods were served unlimited all day long. The price was so awesome and affordable to stay here. We met the director and spike to him. Very nice and classy guy. Juan S. was a phenomenal waiter. He sure made us (Mickey and Goofy family) felt so welcoming at his table and worked really hard every time we saw him. Felix also another hard working employee. He was so awesome and polite and very helpful. They both stood out and made us really love our stay. We hope the company will recognize their hard works and will give them a good raise because they sure contribute to the hotel and well deserved it most. 👍
Okay, so had a junior suite on the 2nd floor with a back patio with direct access to the main pool. The pool bar and grill was open the 10:00 or so the first night we were there on a Thursday, but every night thereafter they closed at 6:00 PM. I didn’t understand that, not being open late on the weekend if there were on a weekday night? The food was sub par for sure. Only to main pool grill and a buffet style restaurant were included in the all-inclusive. Staff was ok, but not exceptional. We had to clean the room when we checked in. No face towels when we got there, I took multiple requests and all day for them to finally get us some. There was some renovating going on, but a lot more needed. We were aware of there being no beach on-site and underestimated how that would affect how we would enjoy our stay. Hate being a spoiled US traveler and not appreciate the small things. Definitely will not be going back to this resort. It wasn’t hard to say no to the Latitude Resort Club timeshare presentation with just seeing and experiencing this resort.
This is the most accurate review you are going to read here. I have read several of these reviews and it blows my mind when people don't read up on the resort they're staying in booking it. Any complaints about the location of the resort or the size of the resort should be researched before booking it. The food - While the resort says they have 5 restaurants, only 2 are open per night. The dugout (main buffet) is ok. And what I mean by that is there is plenty to choose from unless you are very picky and it changes which each meal. The food is bland in this area but certainly not terrible. The other locations are on a rotating schedule. So if you like Mexican, Cuban, Italian. You will probably get that once during your stay. Don't expect Michigan 5 star and you will he ok. The time share presentation - if you are coming here on a timeshare presentation and you are shocked that they are high pressure, need to say no multiple times sales presentations then you have done any research into what they are. Expect that. My wife and I did and we got through it fine. Yes it takes a couple hours. Yes it's annoying and you have to say no over and over but that's why you got a huge discount on the room. We have done it on several occasions. Once with our son with us which I don't recommend. But if you don't like being pushed to buy something don't sign up for it. Easy fix. Location- you should know this already. The beach is a ride by shuttle or golf cart, so are the excursions. Either rent one or take the shuttle. The hotel shouldn't get a lower rating because you didn't take the time to look where it is. Customer service - every single staff member was very friendly, even the timeshare guy when we nicely said no. Everything we asked for we got quickly and happily. We never called housekeeping because we heard that was bad but anytime we stopped by the front desk to ask for something it was in our room fairly quickly. Excursions - the beach is nice for a couple hours, pay for food there and water is calm with music playing. It also ok for a few hours, lots of seaweed. It's a clean beach and some decent picture but it's not a picturesque beach that you want to be at all day long. The other things like scape park, horseback riding and buggy riding are all a lot of fun. Bring money to tip or don't. It's up to you. They look for tips and I expect to tip in a resort like this and with excursions but to each their own. Cleanliness- The rooms, pools, dining areas and resort as a whole are clean and inviting. Final verdict is that it's a nice resort with ok food and an enjoyable time if you aren't knit picky. Except a 4 star vacation. Not the best of my life but far from the worst.
