Great resort for a family getaway. I was impressed by the quality and selection of food. There are activities everyday, a splash park and a gigantic pool that our kids loved. The resort is pretty big and there is a shuttle service pretty much all the time. We were glad to have our costco cart to help carry our stuff and both our kids as we expected there would be a lot of walking around. So far we have tried the Rumba Dominicana restaurant and i recommend ordering a meal named dominican flag. Especially if you like avocado as it comes with half a piece. Servers were Daniela and Yvens Service speed varied greatly. It felt like leaving tips helped with service speed and also as the staff started to recognize us and the kids after a few days of eating at similar spots. For kids there is a beach bar in the rumba restaurant that serves finger foods (nuggets, wings, tortilla chips, pizza, etc) during lunch hours and afternoon. Very helpful if you have picky kids like us. Also most restaurants have a kids menu or finger foods, fruits and foods that most kids will eat. Some examples of the activities are foam party in the pool, Cupcake building for the kids with Elizabeth at kidsdom. Painting, bracelet making, yoga, dancing. The kids loved the game room. It has air hockey, a kiddy ride, ping pong, billard, à claw machine and two ps5. The regular attendant is Maria and she is helpful and loves to play with the kids. I would return to this location in the future.
We celebrated my husband’s birthday with a large group. The entertainment team is great and made all the activities fun. The white party was a favorite! The resort grounds are beautiful and the wildlife is great! We upgraded to Level and quite enjoyed the a level pool and restaurant. Overall very happy with our stay.
Everything was so beautiful and fun. I had the best time here. I don't have time meeting some of the best friends, especially the people who work here. Julio from the lobby bar. Hery, Ninja, Gerard from activities made sure we were taken care of and had so much for us to do. You can tell everyone here really cares about the guests. Luis and Allerie from the pool bar, everyone here gave us an unforgettable vacation and I feel so sad to leave the people especially. I love Melía Caribe Beach Resort
Do yourself a favor and pick another hotel for your vacation in this otherwise beautiful part of the world. - Cleanliness in the pool areas is questionable. Tiles in the pool are broken, moldy patches are everywhere. The pools are also not frequently cleaned. - Food: both the main restaurants for Level and regular guests as well as the “speciality restaurants” serve food that is borderline inedible. Almost nothing has flavor. We are not expecting a lot from an all-inclusive resort, but this is way worse than we would have expected. - Reservation system: to even be allowed access into the speciality restaurants (that are advertised on the website as part of the experience here), you need to get into a long line of frustrated guests to make reservations. Your reservation is NOT guaranteed. Some people never manage to get access to these speciality restaurants. We did, but the process of obtaining the reservations was lengthy (standing in line and being told that you can only make reservations for the coming three days, not your entire stay). If you do get access to the speciality restaurants, the food is very bad - like at the main buffet restaurants. - Sales seminars: guests are being aggressively approached by staff who are looking to bring you to a sales seminar for their loyalty buy-in program. We eventually said yes, it was a very uncomfortable and unnecessary experience when all one wants to do here is relax. - Some rooms (like ours) are a 15 minute walk from the beach even though they are part of the more exclusive Level package. Most of the time you see a shuttle (that are being operated quite frequently), it will not stop for you even though there are empty seats. There is a language barrier but the drivers are also not really trying to explain why they won’t let you on. Overall, a very disappointing experience and we will not be back. Staff is friendly though and the grounds look beautiful. The cocktails are tasty and the swim-up bars are wonderful (including the staff).
We stayed at this hotel with high expectations, but unfortunately our experience was very mixed. Positive points: • The hotel is very beautiful and well maintained. • The rooms are always very clean; the housekeeping staff does an excellent job. • The buffet is quite good and offers a nice variety. • A special thank you to Mackendy at the spa, who was very friendly and accommodating. Negative points: Unfortunately, several aspects were absolutely not up to the standard of a 5-star hotel. • The table service was really poor: we had to ask up to three times just to get cutlery or even water. • We felt like you had to be a regular family guest or give tips in order to receive proper service. • In our room, the air conditioning was leaking and the door was squeaking loudly. We reported these issues, but nothing was done. • At the pool and on the beach, you have to arrive at 7 a.m. to get a sunbed, as guests leave their towels all day to reserve them. On top of that, we were approached on the beach and asked to pay for a bed that is supposed to be included in the hotel amenities. • Staff constantly ask guests to leave reviews, which probably explains why the hotel has such a high rating on Google. Conclusion: The hotel is objectively very expensive for the level of service and amenities provided. Despite the beautiful setting, the service quality and overall organization are clearly not worthy of a 5-star hotel. We will not return and would not recommend it.
