Delicious fish and seafood restaurant right on the water. The food is fire grilled and seasoned very well. I had a Piña colada which was refreshing after a long day in the water. There's an icebox where you can peruse the day's catch and pick out what you want for dinner. As far as I know, most [if not] all of the seating is outdoor under a covered patio. It's easy to enjoy the gorgeous weather and Caribbean sea while eating an amazing meal.
Capitán Cook is a great spot for fresh seafood in Punta Cana. The food was honestly delicious — everything tasted fresh and well-seasoned, especially the seafood dishes. You can tell they know what they’re doing when it comes to cooking fish and shellfish. The portions were generous and the atmosphere has a fun, relaxed, beachy vibe that makes it a nice place to hang out and enjoy a meal. Only heads up: the mosquitoes can be pretty intense, especially in the evening, so definitely bring bug spray or wear something protective. If you’re prepared for that, you’ll have a really good time. Overall, great food and worth the visit!
This place is right on the beach! The vibe is nice and the food was pretty good. The wait staff was nice but it took a long time to bring the food out. Hubby ordered fried. Shrimp but they were not deveined so we sent it back and ordered fried chicken instead. It was good and we did not have any problems for returning the shrimp. My mussels and mixed seafood skewers were delish! 👨🍳😗
Solid seafood restaurant on the water. Ordered the large snapper ($109 usd) with yellow rice, and plantains. Everything tasted excellent. Good vibes. Friendly service; however it was very slow and inconsistent. A lot of cats around begging for food. Definitely worth the visit.
Captain Cook is located in the El Cortecito area of Punta Cana, right by Cortecito Beach. Parking can be a bit tricky since the streets in that area are narrow and always busy, but there is a lot directly across the street for the restaurant, which helps. The place itself is very typical and laid back, nothing fancy, but that is part of the charm. The vibe is relaxed, the ocean is literally in front of you, and the service is spot on. The staff was friendly, attentive, and kept everything moving even though the place was packed. Now the food. Absolutely spectacular. If you like seafood, this is the place. The flavors were incredible and everything tasted fresh. We ordered a huge platter for four that came with two huge lobsters, shrimp, calamari, mussels, fish, and those little lobsters whose name I always forget. It was loaded and delicious. Add two drinks each and the bill was still very reasonable, especially for a true beachfront restaurant. The cocktails were great too. All in all, Captain Cook is a spot I would return to in a heartbeat. Just know the streets are tight, the area gets busy, and the restaurant is simple and typical, not fancy. But the food, the service, and that ocean view make it totally worth the visit.
